Ontario charities join session with renowned fundraiser

Charitable organisations from all over Ontario recently participated in an interactive and engaging online session with American author, humanitarian activist and fundraiser Dan Pallotta.

The renowned fundraiser, Dan Pallotta, who advocates that charitable organizations should be judged on their impact rather than just their overhead costs, and hundreds of Ontario charities came together as part of an online session hosted by the Canadian Postcode Lottery Foundation and the Ontario Charitable Gaming Association (OCGA).
Making a difference in Otario
As well as introducing some of OCGA’s members – charities and non-profits making a difference in Ontario – to the Postcode Lottery Group, the hour-long session included an impactful conversation with Dan Pallotta and discussion around the funding and fundraising landscape. Pallotta believes in the importance for non-profits to invest in fundraising activities to grow, innovate and achieve their mission more effectively.
Lynn Cassidy, Executive Director of the OCGA, said: “I’m so pleased our members could participate in this inspirational session with Dan Pallotta sharing his vast experience, it really challenged our thinking. The Postcode Lottery’s approach to supporting communities and charities through lotteries is unique. We’re excited about the possibility of it coming to Ontario as it would provide a wonderful opportunity for fundraising for our charities.”

The Postcode Lottery Group is currently in contact with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) about a license to run a Postcode Lottery in Ontario to raise vital funds for charities and good causes in Ontario.
'Raise long-term funding'
International Affairs Director at the Postcode Lottery Group, Judith Lingeman added: “A renowned figure within the charitable giving sector Dan Pallotta and his insights on funding and fundraising made him a great fit for this Canadian Postcode Lottery Foundation event. Events like this aim to help further strengthen and empower Ontario’s non-profit landscape and we’re proud the Canadian Postcode Lottery Foundation can play a role in supporting this as part of our ambition to setup a community lottery and raise long-term funding for Canadian charities.”
